Derekcurrie Nov 2 The company has shut down entirely. The download links no longer work. Here is the final message from the developer's website: "To all our friends, partners and customers: "The end of Softpress Systems Ltd. It has become clear that our prospects, both in terms of current revenue and new product development, are insufficient to sustain the company as a viable entity going forward.

The challenges that we have overcome, the friendships we have found, and the daily efforts we have shared as a team, have defined much of our lives since Customer downloads will continue to be available from their respective links below and the Softpress KnowledgeBase is still active. Who knows what comes next? Sandro-Bilbeisi Aug 15 Bdkennedy1 Jul 29 A company that doesn't listen to it's customers doesn't stay in business. It was only when I went to the Softpress site for info that I discovered that they had stopped trading.

I expect I will have too eventually find a new website maker but Freeway will do for a while. Perhaps a buyer will be found and the brand revitalised and returned to the market. Moxiesozo Jun 20 M-Rick May 13 Freeway Pro is an old fashion software. The code is not clean and doesn't pass W3C tests, it is lacking of modern features.

It was good for people who doesn't know how to code when there weren't alternatives, nowaday for less I'd better go with softwares like Flux or Sparkle that are more intuitive, more powerful and also less expensive. It handles Google Maps as a built-in feature.

Freeway is just an old fashion way that haven't evolved, was great years ago, now it's time to move to something new and more modern. Typographica Feb 27 I have found support responsive and helpful and were willing to walk me through difficult problems either due to my lack of experience or being more old school.

I have tried many other web creation apps and have always gone back to Freeway. I applaud the latest version and I am presently using BackDraft to augment my responsive design projects. It is user friendly and Softpress does respond to issues unlike other web apps I have tried who lead you to user forums rather than direct support. Obviously it will not appeal to everyone. Unfortunately some comments and reviews left here seem to be more trollish than factual and it seems some folk have real issues with objective civil communication.

Love it or leave it remember it's just your opinion. Lastly, I do not have to spend hours sorting out irregularities caused by poorly generated code, it is not perfect but what is. Keep up the good work Softpress! Freeway Pro is not even close to user-friendly. The templates are not useful for most purposes and tweaking them is cumbersome. Additional templates are costly. Check their generated web pages for W3C compliance and weep.

RustyIron Sep 8 Freeway works as it's supposed to, but usages is FAR too cumbersome. Creating minor things like buttons seems is quite a chore. There are a few templates available, but modifying them for my own needs is a challenge. To make Freeway usable for the casual user, it should come with a variety of templates that are easy to use. Maclover Aug 15 Yosemite-ready but not Retina-ready.. Scott-C-H- Sep 10 Freeway Pro is an ok application, but I consider it utterly obsolete and irrelevant.

Gone are the days of web design based on print design mindset, which this software is based on. Web is about usefulness, mobile access not just front end, but also updating process as well and social media. The whole thing is becoming more like a web app development, and Freeway Pro doesn't address these needs much at all. If I just want to get something up and running fast and easy with minimum fuss, online services such as Squarespace.

And then, if I want more than that, open source CMS platform such as self-hosted WordPress and Concrete5 would give me the power to do all kinds of custom work while also keeping me from reinventing the wheel via plug-ins and premium themes, none of which Freeway Pro can match.

In general, I believe that the era of Mac web site generator such as Freeway Pro, iWeb, Sandvox and Rapidweaver has come and gone, and these apps will go the way of the dinosaurs in a few years. I began using FW in but had to dump it several years ago. It's an antique if you are into marketing and making money. Print this page. Email this page. Post a comment. Subscribe me. Add to favorites.
