Follow Us. This filter tells Gmail to send those messages to the trash, by watching for the word "unsubscribe" in the body of the email:. In the "Has the words" field, type unsubscribe.

Now, any email that contains the word unsubscribe —which will cover the majority of the newsletters and marketing emails you receive—will be automatically sent to your trash folder. Open your filter to edit it, and add all of the words you want to filter on, separating each with the OR operator. Open any newsletter or marketing email that makes it past your filter and look for keywords and phrases that are rarely used in other types of emails.

When you find one, add it to your filter. Caution: Gmail will automatically delete every email that uses one of the keywords or phrases in your filter. If you think the filter might catch a personal email, make sure to skim through your deleted items at least once a month, or consider using the archiving method described in the next example.

To create a filter that automatically archives newsletters and marketing emails:. In the "Has the words" field, type unsubscribe or use operators to include additional terms. This filter sends all emails that include the word unsubscribe to your "All Mail" folder.

In your Gmail sidebar, expand the menu and scroll down until you see the "Create new label" link. Click the link. Then enter a name for your new label, and click "Create. Gmail labels function like folders in Outlook and other email programs. Use them to sort emails into meaningful groupings.

Once you have a label for newsletters and marketing emails, create your filter:. Check the box next to "Apply the label," and use the dropdown to select the label you created in the last step. Now Gmail will automatically move all emails that contain the word unsubscribe to the label you selected. The three examples above show how to use filters to batch delete, archive, or move emails, but what if you just want to apply those filters to specific types of emails or to emails from specific senders?

There are a few ways to create more precise filters in Gmail. If you manage multiple email accounts from a central account and want emails sent to each address to appear in separate inboxes:. Type the email address for your first account into the "To" field. Check the boxes next to "Skip the inbox Archive it , and "Apply the label," and select the appropriate label from the dropdown. This moves emails from your inbox to individual queues that mimic account-specific inboxes.

Tired of spam emails piling up in your spam folder? Use this filter to automatically and permanently delete every email Gmail identifies as spam as soon as it arrives in your account:.

In the "Has the words" field, type is:spam. Click the "OK" button in the "Confirm creating filter" modal. Caution: Though it happens rarely, Google will sometimes misidentify a legitimate email as spam. By setting this filter, you will have no way to sort through your spam folder to make sure nothing important landed there.

Because Airplane Mode can effectively prevent Find My iPhone from locating your device if it's stolen. This will only prevent her from working on your lock screen. Note: Thieves can also enable Airplane Mode via the Control Center, so that's another reason to disable it in Step 17 above.

Thanks for all the teaching!! I would be lost without this site! I do hate the new Calendar and wondered if you had any ideas on it? How do i clear my search history?? The history button on my safari is gray and i cant click it.

Im on a ipad mini iOS 7. Probably means you have no history to clear. You can also try clearing it directly in Safari by tapping on the "Bookmarks" icon in the bottom menu, then tap on "History" and "Clear" on the bottom right. Also here's my problem in my settings for privacy how come I can't change my find my iphone setting to off? I suspect some ones gotten into my phone maybe through my desk top pc?

I just changed the password for my phone and hope that helps this problem but I think a trip to the apple store and a reset starting new again with my desk top is next. Any thoughts? I've never seen a different shade of green, but if the option to enter your Apple ID password doesn't come up when you click on the Find My iPhone button in your iCloud Settings, then you probably have an issue.

Nobody probably hacked into your account; seems to be a common bug. From what I can tell, you can backup and then try entering into recovery mode and restoring the device not from the backup, but you can do that later if you want. It's a lengthy process, but something to try if you don't want to visit the "Geniuses" at Apple. Also important to know that once someone knows your passcode, f.

I've just changed from a 4s to a 5c and loving it, but have a tiny niggle. At work when we want to use the Wifi on our phones, we have to go to Safari to log-in each time, on my 4s, it remembered the user name and password and all I had to do was press "submit".

However, on the 5c, I'm having to input the information each time manually. Any ideas? I thought there was no way to use some apps having other than the latest version of iOS and the latest devices. Yes, it does work for free apps; price has no bearing on older version availability. Thank you for the information. Your information is still relevant for iTunes version Thanks a Bunch!! Just managed to get a really useful app thanks to you!

The work-around worked like a champ to let me download old version, EXCEPT when I try to open the app, it requires me to upgrade which of course I can't. As mentioned, not all apps offer older versions. Although it did allow you to download an older version, the app developer does not want you to use it for one reason or another and has intentionally bricked it. I wonder if you can help with this: I opened an app on my iPad to find it had automatically updated - and I don't like the new version at all.

I have an old version of an app on my wife's iPad, and it still works fine. When I go into iTunes the app is not in my library so I don't have an old version on iTunes that I can easily download as per this article - but I do have it on the wife's iPad.

Is there a way of getting it off hers and onto mine? When I back up her iPad I see the old version on it but it doesn't appear in the iTunes library. Downloading "not in my library" onlt downloads the new version. That does sound like a tricky situation, but I think we can get it resolved.

The first thing you should do is delete any newer copy of the app from your iTunes library, if you have one. Next, on your wife's iPad which still has the older version of the app, connect it to your computer and open iTunes. This should load the old copy into your iTunes library.

If you do not already have a copy of the app on your iPad, you should then be able to do a sync and have the older version downloaded to your iPad. Hope this works for you.

Thanks for the suggestion. It doesn't work I'm afraid. When I try to transfer the purchases from my wife's iPad it does not result in a copy of the app appearing. The app similarly does not appear in the list of apps that are on my wife's iPad when I connect it up to iTunes - and yet, it does show up in the screen arranging pane, and it IS there on the iPad, as I can use it on her iPad.

I don't understand why it doesn't appear and doesn't transfer when it is plainly there. If only I could get it off I understand I could easily load it onto my own iPad. So the solution did not work with my wife's iPad - despite the app being on there it would not transfer when "transferring purchases". Luckily I also found a copy on a third old iPad and the solution worked perfectly there. Thanks guys! You are welcome! I am not sure why it didn't work on your wife's iPad, but glad you found another iPad to get it working.

I seem to be stuck with a similar issue. I can get the app downloaded and I get the message that asks to download an older version.

So I have don this. However, when I open the snapchat app and attempt to login I still get an error message saying that the app is still only available for iOS. It seems that downloading the latest compatible version does not do anything.

How do I get around this? I have used the app just a few weeks ago with no problems. Can we download the older version of the voice on stage? Apple Club Sitemap. Steve Jobs. Matthew Leeper.
